Commitment- (for next week, will repost)

the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.

“the company’s commitment to quality”

With regard to commitment mention just the importance of being dedicated to one’s studies, family, morals. Explain to them something you’re committed to (not affiliated with the academy or martial arts), and then ask them (just a few) ways that they are committed.

Youth:BJJ
Chaining-(also for next week) one thing we saw at the competition is focusing on one move and not being able to move to the next thing. We can help with Chaining by doing Offense>Offense>Offense or doing Offense>Defense. Some of you came to some classes the last two weeks where in the Beginner adult program I experimented with the lessons I learned from the youth results in naga.
1. Guard- 4 Kimura Situps(without the finish) on the 5th finish
2. Kimura situp X2 then on the 3rd hit a hip heist sweep
3. Kimura Situp x 2 then Hip Heist to mount > bottom player shrimps to guard
4.Above with the new bottom player hitting Kimora situp x 2 and then repeat.
If any questions just ask. but we can do this in an entire class using simple moves.
still begin each class with a standing functional exercise and a top game functional exercise. Since this class example would be so bottom heavy, we can skip that.

Adult BJJ: We didnt’ have enough Adult non advanced competitors for me to see major holes and I don’t want to project mistakes off of two individuals.

Help Needed:

-Someone to Cover Muay Thai and No Gi Friday Evening
-Someone to Open for Open Mat
-Someone to Open for the Viewing Party for the Stream for Cody and Ryan’s Fights

Youth BJJ: Congratulate everyone that went out and competed regardless of the results, bring the competitor up at the start of each class and talk about the courage it takes to get out on the mats and make sure we all give applause to those competitors.

Adult BJJ: If there’s no Trials We will have a training week where we just roll casually, let’s decompress after a lot of data has been introduced this first quarter

Week of 2/19-2/23: Sparring Exhibition this weekend

Announcements & Quick Notes:
– No Open Mat or Sparring this weekend Go to Dublin Jiu Jitsu if you need the rolls!
-Youth Striking Showcase & Adult Sparring Exhibition in place of it
-Compassion Shown to you (ask them)
-Updates on the Academy expansion progress

Curriculum:
-Youth BJJ: I saw that nobody really got into the Defense from Single Leg takedown. Let’s complete the Dog fight/ Single Leg offense. If you were doing Dog fight vs single leg entries, from the dog fight let the defender stand and the offense player comes up with them into a single.
If you have been on single leg entries, you’re already where you need to be
Review the single leg offense and then get into the basic “shin whizzer” defense where you
-whizzer
-use free hand to get head placement then fight the wrist
-shin across thigh defense
-mule kick to free your leg

Just play around with that offense defense older kids can think about re shot, but the primary idea is that next week we will operate in front headlock, so after the defense the kids who are ready, you can front headlock and then sprawl them into the mat

-Adult BJJ: Pressure passing theme continued from butterfly guard.
