Cruise control week guys. With kids out for school, this should be a break week for many of you as far as output, that said, our adult students its normal to them for the most part, so no matter what you’re doing with your late nights, make sure to put on point classes this week. Offense, Defense, Offense sequences on content this month. Of course know the audience and be willing to call the audible. You can never make it too simple. Let’s make sure to get them at least 3x3min rounds In fundamentals, we could be doing better on that. if they only get two thorough detailed techniques, that’s plenty. they got to get better on the mat. Schedule change will be revealed 4/1, for it to begin 5/1 so everyone will have ample time to know about it. ill make a post in here as well.

I hope you guys had a great weekend.

Thank you to everyone that stopped in to help our academy with it’s makeover. John was definitely the MVP , thank you. We have a new way to enter the mat, so just help the students understand what we’re doing. Adults will take shoes off and clean feet, walk across the mat, put shoes back on, and then get dressed in the back, then they will clean their feet on the other end of the mat and re-enter. Kids can do what you tell them. Let’s try some different things. For instance. the intermediate kids class is today. Maybe we line the little kids up coming in after along a perimeter right after they enter the mat? Let’s follow Jara’s lead on this one.

Let’s continue sequencing and end in a submission. Obviously know the audience. If they do not have the singular moves lets slow it down

Beginners: Sequencing

Focus on putting together some Offense chaining like

-Run the pipe single to 1/2 guard pass to Side Mount Escape >Armbar or triangle from guard

-Run the Pipe Single to Half guard pass to Key Lock/Americana

– Half Guard Pass >shrimp to guard>Scissor Sweep>Xchoke from mount

Intermediate: Samesies (These are simply examples. know the room)

-Double leg>SM>butterfly reguard>Pass>Key Lock

-Double Leg >Butterfy Guard>hop over Pass>Back to choke

-Run Pipe Single>Half guard>Crazy Dog pass hopover>back >guillotine

Cole’s Class with the Kids: Continue Kiss of the Dragon to the Back chokes. If any of the instructors feel comfortable with this, you guys can teach this as well

Make sure this week you tell a story of a time in your life where you needed to show extreme discipline. When we let the students know how it is through our lens, they definitely capture the message more. Combatives Seminar this Saturday. Free for you guys again. Hope to see you there. Remind the students this week there’s no Combatives class nor open mat. That this Combatives class is Open for Enrollment at $100. 10-2pm. All Skill Levels. 10 Spots max. This will be part 2 of the clinch series, yet is much more simple than the body lock series. We will get deeper into knife defense.

Beginners: Sequencing

Continuation week:

I’m seeing the pace needs to be slowed down. Especially for the beginners. Let’s have another week of passing half guard and escaping side mount. Lots of specific training before regular training. So it’s good it’ll be alot of live. After a guard pass you can do a submission like a key lock. after a replacement you can have them do a sweep like the scissor sweep, or a submission like the arm bar just so they don’t lose the stuff we did in January and February. But this way we get a little bit of offense/defense combo.

Intermediate classes I’d like to continue as well. with the kids I was doing butterfly guard pass chaining of duck walk to hop over. Now I want that same movement taught with the crazy dog half guard pass to hop over via the same counter from the person on bottom. This is a great way to begin taking the back which ends up in the “last second” drop back to guillotine when you can’t get the far hook in for the extra four points. That’s the Friday/saturday move at least for kids. Adults, if you’re teaching intermediate, just play around with what we’ve been working on and add your stuff in.
