Week of 3/8-3/13:
Continuation week:
I’m seeing the pace needs to be slowed down. Especially for the beginners. Let’s have another week of passing half guard and escaping side mount. Lots of specific training before regular training. So it’s good it’ll be alot of live. After a guard pass you can do a submission like a key lock. after a replacement you can have them do a sweep like the scissor sweep, or a submission like the arm bar just so they don’t lose the stuff we did in January and February. But this way we get a little bit of offense/defense combo.
Intermediate classes I’d like to continue as well. with the kids I was doing butterfly guard pass chaining of duck walk to hop over. Now I want that same movement taught with the crazy dog half guard pass to hop over via the same counter from the person on bottom. This is a great way to begin taking the back which ends up in the “last second” drop back to guillotine when you can’t get the far hook in for the extra four points. That’s the Friday/saturday move at least for kids. Adults, if you’re teaching intermediate, just play around with what we’ve been working on and add your stuff in.
