We will need help testing the individuals coming up Friday. I will post the testing schedule and times tmw.
For Future notice, anyone expecting to ever receive a black belt should be expected to learn to administer a belt test. Professor John and I talked at length about the progression to black belt and after and that is going to be a great addition to the community. I’ll let you guys know when it’s up for anyone that can help or would like to sit in and watch from a different point of view.

Spider Guard: Youth Instructors stay with Spider, but do what you think is necessary, top or bottom and then fill me in end of week on where we’re at.

Adult BJJ: Intro to Spider Lasso Passing

July: FORGIVENESS

July is here. Regular week of classes. Summer is half over. We see a lot of youth quit and pause, things are slowing down, but back to school is a month away, and we know how crazy that can get. Be ready in a month.

Forgiveness is the word of the month, and very important for a martial artist to have. It requires humility and a willingness to move forward.

BJJ: We are getting into Spider and Spider/lasso, for the youth, I believe Tim was doing spider guard with a foot on the hip and one on the bicep to the triangle? Begin to adapt the steering wheel sweep in there as well.

Adult: We are continuing the passing of this type of guard.

Smooth sailing so far this first month of summer. Good job everyone. Classes have been good and pretty full for summer. Glad we did the compressed schedule for youth. The youth intermediate class has revealed some deficiencies specific to guard play. Many are good from the top. Few are good from the bottom. Finish up on guard attacks this week in regular youth BJJ. Adults, we are getting into passing the open guard/spider guard. Great job last week on the Wednesday night class. It’s starting to get attendance which I like. It will be no gi this week. Movie night was slim but we had a good time. Going to mix it between movies and maybe some old mma/nhb/bjj documentaries as well. Perhaps it may also blend into film study.

Guys great job lately. Falling into a nice summer rhythm. all of the classes have stayed bearable like I had hoped. the Wednesday youth comp is looking smooth. Summer classes have slimmed out a bit with adults, and Thursday Muay Thai level 2 is still kind of wimpy turnout. We have to get the ppl of the appropriate level ranked up and to get them to care about it.

If we see people who only train Muay Thai, ask them if they have thought about cross training into bjj a little bit. It will only help them to be a complete martial artist.

BJJ: Bottom vs Top Knee shield. explore a bit of bottom and top
BJJ Youth: more guard, move to the opposite one, if you did triangle , move to arm bar. if you did arm bar, move to triangle.
Muay Thai:

Youth BJJ: Arm Bar & Triangle continuance. Whichever attack you chose, stay with it. the next week we will get into the different one. Youth Sparring class was great last week, hoping to see more adult participation in the BJJ class at 7:30PM. That will be the class where we get good.

Muay Thai: same theme continued.

Adult BJJ: Updated Tmw

Youth BJJ: I’d like to see Granby roll to regard escape from the turtle position. and working arm bar from the guard

Adult BJJ: Omoplata Sweep to attack

Muay Thai: Punch, make them miss on whatever their counter is ( not block, make them miss) and counter their counter.

Thursday is Tylers last day in the academy!!!! Hope to see you all there. I’m excited about the new summer schedule and I hope you guys are too. The people that actually come to the classes will level up a lot this summer. Top priority this week is for me to select testing and promotion dates for next month or early July. Standby for info

Final Week of School Guys: We have been working wrestling double leg to sprawl to peak out to bottom person standing up with the kids, let’s keep this going with a mat return added to it or a back take. .

Little Thrashers has been doing ball sprawls and knee touching to sprawl game. They can add top spins, capture the flag, etc. I am the king of “Professor Says” game. All coaches should dream of beating my record.

Familiarize yourself with the new schedule for Summer and be prepared to help any students understand it. It is at the front desk.

Had a good seminar this weekend and got to see Lance and he sends his greetings to everyone. I think he’s coming up to see us September/October. It’s good to see his school starting to flourish and him reap some of the benefits of all his hard work.

Tim R. and Moon are still out this week so it’ll be really crazy tomorrow with the same problem in the prior weeks of a Muay Thai and BJJ class needed coverage at the same time. Any help is appreciated with the Thrashers. Other than that I should have everything without problem through Friday. Professor Bubby will be aiding again T/TH am so I can go teach LCSO from 10am-2pm on those days. Should anyone want to make a little extra money tmw and Thursday in Dublin, please let me know, It’ll be mostly BJJ this time around compared to the typical weapon integrated training we usually do.

The Summer Schedule is coming soon (May 26) and it is at the front desk and the TV screen and we should be rolling good. Stay tuned for belt testing/promotion announcements.

Thrashers: Standing up from Rear Body Lock

Youth BJJ: Granby roll from grounded rear boy lock to guard and triangle choke

Adult BJJ: Omaplata Options
Muay Thai: Switch Kick
