6/27-7/2: Welcome Back John, Jesse, & Tim!
Announcements tmw afternoon 🙂
Announcements tmw afternoon 🙂
From top to bottom start incorporating sequences involving what we’ve been doing for two months.
Takedowns to back control, to attacks and defenses.
Duck under>mat return>back take>Japanese escape
duck under>mat return>back take>chair sit >armbar>Spider web escape>pass>back take>finish
these are two examples only. make sure the techniques apply to the classes you’ve been working with and they can handle the material. Some classes the sequencing will be as short as back take from turtle to back escape. Some classes will be vast. I’m teaching a seminar of spider/lasso and DLR in Texas in a few weeks, so in my advanced classes im going to be changing directions completely from what we’ve been doing most of the year. I’ll be simplifying the beginner level curriculums so at least we stay on the same themes.
Side note: We will be severely understaffed this week. Any help with cleaning the mats, extra assistance in classes is appreaciated. We got Jesse, John, Tim Blue, and Andrew out for most to all of the week.
Instructor Focus Points: Let’s make sure we don’t talk tooooo much during Beginners classes. I think at the LEAST the groups should get 7 minutes drilling a move set every time we break to drill(thats 2-3 times in a class minimum). Additionally they should get 15 minutes of live training in adult fundamentals  now that they are all one hour long, and 12 minutes for the kids beginners. If they were getting 10 min before, in the 45 min classes, there’s not a reason for them to only be getting 1-2 x3 minute rounds now. So monitor your instruction, be deliberately concise.
Glad to be back, I hope last week was amazing. Getting to share the mats with Royce was really, just awesome. Got one really good thing, I thought, but most of it was classic UFC 1 blue print. I enjoyed that though. He stuck to what he knows best.
I’d like to see sequencing and chaining within Jiu Jitsu of the different things we’ve been doing for 5 weeks. If you guys need to touch up or go a different direction, feel free, I’ll catch up with you all on how last week went with content and what to change within context for the upcoming weeks.
Kickboxing- stay with power development. Hard strikes please.
MMA-GNP technique/Warmup- breaking collar ties and punching to Half guard. Live: Ground & Pound, but the purpose is solely to get up from the bottom, even if you’re a guard guy, don’t do it, get up on the wall.
Wednesday: Extra Pads with Cole
Thursday: Wall Wrestling(reshot work) Punching a grounded opponent who builds to a 3 point or turtled base, move to front head lock or the back as they stand, and finish with a takedown.
